While it is a heroic idea to make mobile roaming cheaper, the proposed plan will put an end to investment in mobile infrastructure including deployment 4G/LTE deployment, the very thing that the Commission wants to support to create a connected and more competitive continent.
It will also mean massive dismissals of employees in the European telecommunications industry. The plan, if implemented, will create perverse incentives for arbitrage and border trade in mobile telephony.
